FiberSocial Privacy Policy

Effective July 14, 2026

FiberSocial is an independent, unofficial app for Ravelry. It is not created by, operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Ravelry — it's a third-party client built by an outside developer using Ravelry's public API and website. "Ravelry" belongs to its own owners.

Who provides this app

FiberSocial is developed and maintained independently, with source code published at github.com/torrey1028/FiberSocial. Contact: myhobbyislearning@gmail.com.

How the app talks to Ravelry

FiberSocial talks directly to Ravelry using your own Ravelry account — there is no FiberSocial server in between. Most requests use an OAuth token for Ravelry's API; a handful of actions Ravelry's API doesn't expose (like event pages) instead reuse your Ravelry website session, the same way your browser would. Every request goes straight from your device to Ravelry's servers, authenticated as you.

What's stored on your device

What FiberSocial does not do

Your content and account

Anything you post, favorite, or otherwise create through FiberSocial (forum replies, votes, event RSVPs, etc.) is stored by Ravelry on your Ravelry account, exactly as if you'd done it on ravelry.com — FiberSocial is only a window into that account. Ravelry's own handling of your account data is governed by Ravelry's Privacy Policy, not this one.

Data retention and deletion

Signing out clears your stored OAuth token and session from the device. Uninstalling the app removes all local app data, including the encrypted credentials, preferences, and the local event/reminder record described above. Because FiberSocial has no server, there is no remote copy of any app data to separately delete — deleting the local data on your device is complete. To delete your underlying Ravelry account or its content, use Ravelry's own account tools.

Children's privacy

FiberSocial is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Access to the app requires an existing Ravelry account, which is subject to Ravelry's own eligibility terms.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this same URL with a new effective date above.
